10 Ways to Deal With Stress
Each of us has days that are more stressful than others. Whether it is real or not stress is hard on our bodies. Here are 10 ways to deal with stress.
Stress can show up in a multitude of ways in our bodies. Too many high-stress days can really take its toll. Don’t let this happen so often that your body gets used to and stays in a state of overload. Don’t let this be you. You can develop techniques to deal with this high level of stress.
Take a walk. Take the time while you are walking to do deep breathing. Use this time to only focus on the breathing not focusing on anything else. Don’t let your mind wander.
Breathe deeply. The easy way to deal with stress. Breathe in for 5 seconds and hold it for 5 seconds. Now exhale for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times and focus only on your breathing.
Exercise. Any time you can fit in exercise is good. Work out your frustrations by going for a run, walk or swim.
Listen to music. For some, it will be an upbeat rhythm and for other, is will be something slow to calm them. For those with the upbeat, you may choose to get up and dance
Take a day off. Everyone needs a break once in a while. However, on your day off, it’s time to do NOTHING or do something you enjoy
Unplug. No phone and no computer. Turn off everything that connects you to the outside world. Stay offline for as long as you can
Go outside. A little time outside at the beach or park can work wonders. Find a location with to enjoy. Take time to smell the roses. Pay attention to what’s going on around you and keep your mind off your challenges. Even 10 to 15 minutes can greatly reduce your stress.
Read. Find something interesting to read. The ideal book would be able to take your mind off of things for a few hours.
Take a nap. Take a 15 – 20 nap to help the body reset. When you awake you feel refreshed.
Hang out with friends. Nothing better than friends to get your mind off of life. Opportunity to laugh and use some endorphins.
